Shame washed away: how Hitler humiliated France
22 June 1940 France capitulated to Germany. A truce at hard for the defeated country was signed in the forest of Compiegne. Wanting to humiliate the vanquished, Adolf Hitler ordered to get out of the Museum of old a saloon car in which the allies on 11 November 1918 accepted the surrender of Germany. The Fuhrer himself in the midst of negotiations, pointedly rose from his chair and went to call Joseph Goebbels. The legendary car was destroyed at the end of the Second world war.
