China accuses India's military of violating borders

The Indian, not the Chinese side, is a violator of border agreements, Xinhua reports on August 31. The corresponding statement was made by Colonel Zhang Shuili, the official representative of the combat command of the Western Military District of the People's Liberation Army of China in connection with the accusations of India. Commenting on the statement of the Indian Defense Ministry that on the night of August 30, Chinese troops made provocative movements in order to change the status quo in Ladakh, Zhang Shuili said the following. Tension on the Indo-Chinese border was caused by the actions of the Indian military, which undermined the consensus reached at previous multi-level negotiations, and on August 31 again illegally crossed the line of control in the southern shore of Lake Pangong Tso and the Zheqin Pass. Beijing, as noted by Zhang Shuili, views the actions of the Indian military as a serious violation of China's territorial sovereignty and as undermining stability on the border. The Chinese side said it strongly protests against India's violation of its promises. The Chinese military will take the necessary countermeasures, closely monitor the development of events and decisively defend the territorial sovereignty of China, as well as peace and stability in the border areas. Zhang Shuili As previously reported by the news agency, another aggravation on the Indo-Chinese border occurred on the night of August 30. The Indian Defense Ministry made a statement according to which the troops of the People's Liberation Army of China violated the previous consensus by carrying out provocative troop movements in order to change the status quo.
