Retired US commando accused of spying for Russia


US law enforcement officers arrested a retired employee of a special unit of the US Army, known as the Green Berets, according to a message circulated on August 21 by the US Department of Justice. 45-year-old Peter Raphael Dzibinski Debbins was suspected of conspiring with Russian intelligence agents. According to the agency, in 2008, leaving active military service, Debbins revealed secret information to Russian intelligence agents about his previous activities while serving in special forces. It is alleged that Debbins even signed a statement that confirms his desire to serve Russia, while providing secret information about his unit and colleagues. The Ministry of Justice added that the court's recognition of the suspicions put forward threatens the former green beret with life imprisonment.
