Preparation for hajj suspended in Uzbekistan
Preparations for the 2020 hajj season were suspended in Uzbekistan due to the difficult epidemiological situation in Saudi Arabia, the Committee on Religious Affairs of the Republic reported on April 16. Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umra sent a statement to Uzbekistan asking Tashkent to postpone preparations for Hajj due to the coronavirus pandemic. The entry of pilgrims from all over the world has already been suspended. The Committee on Religious Affairs of Uzbekistan promised to keep order in line for the hajj until 2021. According to the news agency, in early March the Saudi Arabian authorities banned the inhabitants of the kingdom from making a pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina.
