DN: Seven EU countries are expanding SARS-CoV-2

The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, located in Solna (Sweden), warns in a new report about the spread of coronavirus infection in seven European countries. According to the agency, now the virus is spreading rapidly among older people in Spain, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Malta. In these countries there is a higher proportion of serious infections or diseases that need to be treated in hospitals, which, in turn, has led or may lead to an increase in mortality in the short term, the report says. According to the center, the spread of coronavirus is increasing in many countries of Europe, but mainly among young people and citizens with relatively easy COVID-19. Seven countries differ against this background, as the virus affects the elderly there, which means that the course of the disease becomes more serious and can more often lead to death. Although the report shows that the spread of the infection is most severe in seven countries in Spain, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Malta, it also states that a number of other countries may have a risk of transmitting the infection to older people over 65 years of age. These countries are Austria, Denmark, Estonia, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and the UK.
