Belarus will continue to strengthen comprehensive cooperation with Russia, but will not focus only on this one direction, Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei said. We intend to further strengthen comprehensive cooperation with Russia. But this does not mean that we should focus on only one direction, Makei said on February 6 in Sofia. According to him, Belarus has historically developed good relations with a large eastern neighbor, but at the same time the republic will move in a direction that will correspond to its national interests. According to the Belarusian state news agency BelTA, Vladimir Makei made his statements after negotiations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Catherine Zaharieva. We remind that on February 7 in Sochi Alexander Lukashenko will hold talks with Vladimir Putin: issues of integration in the format of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, as well as problems of supply of Russian oil to Belarusian refineries will be discussed. Today, on February 6, Lukashenko held a meeting on the problems of Belarusian fuel and energy industry that arose after Minsk refused to sign contracts for the supply of hydrocarbons with Russian companies. The day before, on February 1, Minsk was visited by US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo. He met with Makei and Lukashenko, promising to supply 100% of the oil to Belarusian refineries.
